Property Tax Adjustment ~ Lot 295 D.L. 466, Pl. 50077 (exc. Pl 53477)
Roll No. 585530-002 — Suffolk Avenue

We have uncovered a duplication of assessment in our property tax roll
which was a result of a subdivision of land being processed without removing the
original parcel of land from the roll. There has therefore been a duplicate
placement of this land on the roll for the years 1978, 1979 and 1980. The
error was discovered by our Collector in the course of preparing for this years
tax sale. . .

The Assessment Authority acknowledged that it was their error and they
are taking steps to correct the 1980 Roll. The Treasurer has also asked them to
try and correct the tax levies for the previous two years as the amounts set up
on the roll for school and regional purposes have been paid out by the City and
due to the error these amounts should be recovered. The property is located at
the corner of Coquitlam Avenue and Coast Meridian Road and a small sketch is
attached showing the area. The portion of land marked the remainder of 295
was subdivided and the new properties were placed on the roll however, the
remainder of 295 was not removed the same year. The duplicate taxes therefore
‘were on this remainder of lot 295. oot

_ The City Collector requires authority to write off the amount of taxes
levied for the years 1978 and 1979 in. the amount of $2,335.41. The 1980 taxes
‘will be dealt with through the supplementary. roll later this year.

Could we have Council's authority for this write off please.
