DRINKING WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN (Public Works/Envirommental Protection Committee Meeting of October 30, 1990) Recommendation: That the G.V.W.D. Memorandum dated September 17, 1990 summarizing the G.V.W.D. Drinking Water Quality Improvement Plan be received for information. Backeround & Copnments: Mr. Doug Neaden, P. Eng., G.V.W.D., presented the Drinking Water Quality Improvement Plan to the jolut Public Works/Environmental Protection Committee. Also, Mr. Neaden Submitted the attached G.V.W.D. memorandum dated September 17, 1990 regarding this plan. It was noted that there are water quality problems in the Water District with regards to turbidity, acidity and bacterial levels which do not meet the requirements of Federal Water Quality Standards. The G.V.W.D. Drinking Water Quality Improvement Plan recommends a three phase program to construct water mains, plus chlorination and filtration facilities for a total cost of 346.5 to 478.5 million dollars.
