Brown Director of Community Planning SUBJECT: Northside Shopping Centre Development Variance Permit No. 9/86 RECOMMENDATION: That City Counci | adopt a resolution to issue Development Variance Permit to. the North Side Shopping Centre, Rem of Lot J, DL. 479, Grp 1, NWLD Plan 6505 permitting the shopping centre to develop a parking fot in their required rear yard and to erect traffic direction Signs in their required front and flanking front yard. COMMENTS: - Wolstencroft Realty the leasing agent for the Northside Shopping Malt! have approached the City with a scheme to provide additional parking and to enhance the appearance of the back side of their building. The basis for their Proposing this scheme is twofold; business has expanded and tenants require additional parking and the firm want to continue with building improvements to keep the shopping mall competitive. The proposa! is to construct a formal parking lot and landscaping along the west side of the building is an Improvement for the view from apartments across Sefton Street. Due to this, approva! of the proposal is being recommended. The second element of the Proposal is a request to vary the Sign Bylaw to permit the erection of traffic direction signs beside parking fot entrances along Coast. Meridian Road and Prairte Avenue.
