Aldermen Laking, Muldoon and Wright voted against the resolution. From the City Engineer, November 3rd, 1982 regarding parking along Kelly Avenue. Moved by Alderman Muldoon: Seconded by Alderman Lakina: That parking be allowed on the south side of Kelly Avenue from 10 meters east of the entrance to tii Works Yard to Kingsway Avenue. Carried. NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Muldoon referred to the report "Railroad Transport of Dangerous Goods in the Greater Vancouver Region" prepared by Mr. J.J. Eisler, Staff, Railway Transport Committee, Canadian Transport Commission and expressed her concern regarding the fact that Council had not met on this report as yet. Alderman Muldoon advised that she had received Mr. Eisler's assurance in a letter that all documents prepared on the recommendations for a possible alternate site for the storage of dangerous goods will be considered. Mayor Traboulay advised he has contacted Mr. Mark Rose, M.P., and a Mr. Gray of the Railway Transport Committee and advised Mr. Gray is coming from Ottawa to meet with the Council and that he will advise of the date. Alderman Muldoon then presented the Following which was accepted as a notice of motion: "That this Council make a motion to send a letter to Ministers LaLonde and Pepin with regard to Mr. Lalonde's recent announcement of having some $400,000,000 available for rail improvements in Western Canadas; that we ask Mr. Pepin and Mr. Lalonde very seriously to consider using some of this $400,000,000 to implement some of Mr. Eisler's recommendations, namely, the establishment of an interchange, storage and inspection facility further to the east in the Fraser Valley." Alderman Muldoon asked Alderman Mabbett regarding whether the Greater Vancouver Regional District will be considering Mr. Eisler's report and Alderman Mabbett advised perhaps in the near future it will be discussed.
