May 26th, 1975 /5. larger tracts of land at various locations in the City and the Committee recommends that this land be retained for possible future development rather than disposing of this land to the G.V.R.D. or Province for other forms of public housing. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That Recommendation No. 5 set forth on Page 14 of the Report of the Housing Committee, City of Port Coquitlam, April, 1975, be adopted. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Mabbett commented that the areas recommended seem to lend themselves to pilot Projects. Alderman Laking stated he agreed with the two areas specified for pilot projects; however, he felt that with respect to retaining other larger tracts of City~owned land for possible Future development, this should be left flexible enough to be able to consider if a good proposal is brought forth. Alderman Ranger stated his concern that the water problem has not been solved in the Taylor Street area, and Alderman Thompson advised that this will be referred to the Public Works Committee for study. Alderman Ranger pointed out that at a Planning & Zoning Committee meeting some time ago, an application from a resident of that area for rezoning was turned down, and Alderman Thompson advised that the whole lower area will be again reviewed now that (a) the policy has been adopted; and (b) the City Engineer has stated that the water problem is not severe. 6.
