It is time to revise the eighteen year old guidelines, which allows submission of six works, some paperwork, and a $15.00. $25.00 cheque al the Gallery of AC Ceramics on Granville Island in Vancouver, The jury committer of three people, usually a combination of Board members and invited potters, viewed work twice a year, The Gallery Managers opinion was considered. In the early eighties when the Gallery was created, there were fewer potters and much less variety of works. [Lis more complex now. Please think of ways to improve the system, reduce the expense, stress and disappoint- ment. The review committee, Heather Cairns, Kimcha Rajkumar, the Gallery Manager tnd Twill use your input and our gleanings to try and make a better system. It will be presented to you in the newsletter before anything is finalized. Some things to consider: * Gallery space is finite, M0 to 75 potters are currently entitled to exhibit * ceramics is susceptible to trends and lifestyles ‘the Gallery is a retail business and ‘its inventory must help pay the bills * the 200 sq. ft. exhibition space can be somewhat supported Saying yes is cusy; saying no is hard, saying why is often subjective and saying why not is always difficult, The Potters Guild Gallery of MC Ceramics is a prestigious showplace of accomplished claywork, aquarterof amillion dollar baby and the only surviving Guild pot shop in the country. How and who decides what is going in there is a serous task. Please help make a plan. She cheerfully replies “My vessels, although nearly flat, do have some capacity and [ geta smile out of calling them two-and-a-half dimensional.” Thanks Marlene for your pood ha- mou,
