This is your chance to see Les Sosurs Boulay perform for the first time in Vancouver. This singer-songwriter composer duo is composed of sisters ' Stéphanie and Mélanie Boulay, who hail se * from New Richmond, Quebec. Their 2s breakthrough with the public came in 2012, when they won the prestigious compeliition, Les Francouvertes. Soon after, in the spring of 2013, they launched their first album “Le poids des confettis’, which was enthusiastically received by critics and audiences alike, so much so that it won two trophies at the 2013 Quebec Music Industry Awards for best new artist, and best folk album of the year. They were then named “Discovery of the Year’ in the vocal category by CBC- Radio-Canada for the 2013-2014 season, and they are in competition for band of the year and best live show at this year Quebec's Music Industry Awards that will take place on October 26th, 2014. The Vancouver audience will also have the pleasure of seeing “Les Hay Babies’, a trio of three women from New Brunswick, who will perform as the opening act for Les Soeurs Boulay. Discovered in the 2013 Francouvertes competition, these young Acadians were the first artists from outside Quebec to win this prestigious competition. Hailing from three of the four cardinal points of New Brunswick, Katrine Noél on the ukulele, Vivianne Roy on guitar and Julie Aubé on banjo blend their accents fo create a highly orginal soundscape, presenting their own indie-folk recipe. One of their major strengths lies in their | vocal harmonies, but the relevance and candidness of their lyrics also give this trio its contagious charm and charisma. “Les Hay Babies’ caried off six trophies at the New-Brunswick Music Awards as well as the prize for Francophone Album of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards in April 2014 for the album “Folio”. They also have just been nominated for best folk album and best new artist at this year Annual Quebec's Music Industry Awards. In September 2014 they also received the Edith Bulter Award from the Quebec Society of Singers / Songwniters that rewards francophone musicians in Canada.
