VEP 6M2 Teleshone (604) 264-5000 BC Transit 22 ~~. 417 Wa June 30, 1993 TO: Mayor Len Traboulay, Cuair & Members of the Vancouver Regional Transit Commission FROM: Glen Leicester SUBJECT: Review of Public Open House - South Port Coquitlam 10 BACKGROUND The Citadel Heights area is a new residential development in South Port Coquitlam, consisting of both single family homes and multi-family townhouses. The area is still under development, however, the current population is approximately 6,900. BC Transit has operated service to the area since 1991. This route (#159 Port Coquitlam Centre/New Westminster Station) operates during the daytime Monday to Saturday. There is no service after 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday, nor is there Sunday or jioliday service. Since the service began, BC Transit has received numerous requests for evening, Sunday and holiday service. Currently, BC Transit operates a second route in the South Pert Coquitlam area. Route #161 Mary Hill/Port Coquitlam Centre operates in the Mary Hill area, an existing residential community with a population of approximately 3,400. BC Transit has’ identified that it is possible to extend route #161-to serve the Cu-del Heights area during evenings, Sundays and holidays (see map). This can be accomplished - within the existing schedule, and, therefore at no additional cost. Moreover, by extending the route to Citadel Heights the route's productivity can be increased by attracting more passengers and reducing the cost per passenger during the evening and Sundays and holidays from $8.00 to approximately $4.00. The table below summarizes the productivity of this-- - service, and the anticipated productivity of the proposed change. Route Productivity | .
