REQUEST FOR PLAYGROUND SIGNS - 2200 BLOCK WELCHER AVENUE
(Public Works Committee Meeting of August 24, 1993)

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council direct the City Clerk to amend the City Traffic Bylaw #1117 to include the
designation of the 2200 Block of Welcher in front of Elks Park as a playground zone so that
traffic speed will be reduced to the maximum of 30 km/h.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

The Public Works Committee considered the attached memorandum dated August 16, 1993 from
the Project Technician regarding a letter from Robert and Susan Edwards of 2214 Welcher

Avenue requesting playground zone signs in front of Elks Park at the 2200 block of Welcher
Ave.

As there are children playing and pedestrians crossing in this area, it is recommended that this
portion of Welcher Ave. be designated as a playground zone to reduce trajfic speed to 30 km/h.
