On May 14, 1990 the Municipal Council, upon receiving a request from the Urban Development Institute (UDI), authorized the Planning Department to proceed with an overall revision to the Sign Bylaw, as part of its ongoing work. Reflecting the concerns expreased by the Urban Development Institute, the new Bylaw was to: Be more user-friendly. Include a Table of Contents Have a simpler format Clarify relations between Zone and Designation and Permitted Signs Update interpretations to relate to current technology Clarify provisions to facilitate enforcement Clarify procedures for applications Encourage appropriate coordination between the appearance, size, type, form and location of any sign te the main building or buildings located a site.
