From the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Oct/75 Report ~SPCA October 30th, 1975, being the October, 1975 service report of the pound op- eration. The report was received for information. REPORTS: From the City Administrator, November 6th, 1975, advising that at a City Adm.re Rd.Closure meeting of the Community Development Committee held on November 5th, bet.Coquitlam & Suffolk 1975, it was recommended that a small portion of Wellington Street between Coquitlam Avenue and Suffolk Street be abandoned. Alderman Laking spoxe to the recommendation of the Committee and advised it was intended to include therein that the possible uge of tt. - resulting parcel as a neighbourhood park be referred to the Leisure Activities Committee for study and report back to Council; however, Mayor Campbell suggested that before further consideration is given the matter, Mr. L. Stewart, acting as spokesman for a delegation of the residents concerned, be permitted to make a presentation on their behalf at this time, and to this members of Council generally agreed. Mr. Stewart then spoke to the meeting, and proposed that a park be created on the two lots resulting from the proposed read closure. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the abandonment of a small portion of Wellington Street between Coquitlam Avenue and Suffolk Street be approved, ad that the parcel of land so created be dedicated as park. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Thompson pointed out that the park probably would not be developed as such, and Mr. Stewart advised that the residents would prefer the site to be left as is except for a general clean-up once a year. From the City Administrator, November 6th, 1975, advising that at a City Adm.re proposed Ind. meeting of the Community Development Committee held on November 5th, plant-1651 Kingsway 1975, the proposal of Record Chemical Co. Western Ltd., to locate an industrial plant at 1651 Kingsway Avenue on a portion of the Macro property was considered, and submitting a report thereon from the Local Assistant Fire Marshal dated November 3rd, 1975. It was noted that the operation will include a 28,800 squir foot building plus a tank farm and that the Committee was mainly concerned with whether or not the proposed development would meet the Zoning By-law requirements.
