Prior to the question being called on the foregoing amendment, Alder- man Laking commented that the District of Coquitlam was considering a resol- ution similar to that originally preposed this evening, and passage of the amending motion notedé above would make the motion of the District Council's null and void. In discussing the subject further, Alderman Meyer stated that when he had been involved in similar negotiations last year, one of the major pto- blens was in regard to euployee-enployer relationships; also, the response time was quite dissimiliar and that he had been unable to find any evidence or agreement that consolidation of the fire services of the twe imimicipal- ities was desirable. He also noted that discussions had not been held with the City's Fire chief. Aiderman Thompson pointed out that since the subject was first looked at tio years ago, the community has experienced consider- able growth, particularly in commercial and industrial development, and stated he was certain the problems mentioned by Alderman Meyey could be worked out.
