Spectators wel- Race going to the wire CAN THE Bullies douse the Lightning? Will the Wranglers wrestle the title away from the Okics? Those questions will ‘be ans- wered this week as recrea- tional hockey leagues stage their tightest races in years. A month ago the All Seasons Lightning were apparently ctuising to a third consecutive recreational division league championship — four points clear with a game in hand. It was an identical story in ~ the Oldtimers’ where the the — Motor crown was Northern Inn Okies’ for the taking. . How things have changed. The Lightning have fizzled in the stretch, winning just three of their last nine, allow- ing the Back Eddy Bullies (7- 2-0) to charge to the front, That left the Bullies having to win only one of their two remaining games, tomorrow night’s game against the Lightning, to take including - the title. In the Oldiimers division, the Okies slump hasn’t been aa dramalic but has let the Wranglers get to within a point. They meet tonight at 10:30 p.m. in a game ‘that could de- cide the title. It will be the Wranglers last of the regular season while the Okies wrap it up Saturday against cellar- dwellers Convoy. The playoffs in both divi- sions get under way next Wed- nesday. Province of British Columbla Ministry of Transportation and Highways Director of Skier Services Use Steep Terrain To Improve A common problem that all skiers face when skiing steep aggressive terrain is not projecting themselves down the slope. To beat the steeps we must work with gravity and allow ourselves to. project down the slope and the direction of the new turn. The first step is to train our mind to commit to the turn no matter what the situation is. Keep your hands out, front shoulders facing, down. the slope and turn your feet. To become committed start on less aggressive slopes a and progress to : steeper terrain as you feel more confident. | Keep an aggressive attitude and go for it!
