Purpose/Problem: fhe purpose of this report 1s to review the request for assistance received from the Kinsmen regarding the Terry Fox Rua and provide a recommendation for consideration by the Parks & Recreation Committee. . : ° History/Background: fhe Terry Foz Run has been set for September 18, 1988. In the past, the City of Port Coquitlam has worked in cooperation with the event organizers to ensure that the "Hometown Run® is a success. The "Hometown Run® as it is now known has grown $o become the largest run in British Columbia. The format for the event being proposed, is similar to the previous year and the list of requested areas of assistance is also similar with two exceptions: Te The Kinsmen have requested the City ts paint a graphic on Laurier Avenue (This request will be dealt with in a report under separate cover.) The Kinamen have requested permission to have their "flag persons® interrupt the flow of traffic at two key traffic . points along the route, (on Prairie Avenue at Wellington and on Coast Meridian at Coquitiam Avenue), to permit runners to eross the streets in a safe manner. These interruptions will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 poeM. 30
