Carried. From the Fire Chief, November 19th, 1979 regarding the shipping of hazardous commodities and expressing concern regarding the lack of adequate water supply in the C.P.R. yards. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the Canadian Pacific Railway be contacted regarding the report of the Fire Chief, November 19th, 1979, and advised of Council's concern regarding the lack of adequate water supply in the Coquitlam Yards and asking what plans they have for upgrading. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing rescelution discussion ensued on the general concern of Council regarding the shortage of water in the C.P. Rail yards and Alderman Traboulay expressed concern regarding evacuation routes and asked that this be looked into. Moved by Alderman: Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the appropriate Federal authority be advised of Council's concern regarding the inadequacy of emergency evacuation routes from the City of Port Coquitlam. Carried. The Fire Chief advised Council members are welcome'to visit the C.P. Rail yards to view the procedure used in processing rail cars.
