FIRE LIMIT AREAS AND SPRINKLER REGULATIONS Those areas zoned to permit commercial, industrial, institutional and multiple—-family residential use by the Zoning Bylaw, as amended or re-enacted from time to time, are established as fire limit areas. Within the fire limit areas, fire sprinklers shall be installed in ail industrial, commercial, institutional and residential | buildings constructed, added to oF altered, pursuant to a pbuilding permit application made after February 18, 1991. Where Section 13.2 requires installation of a fire sprinkler system, the building shall be provided with a fire sprinkler system in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association and the Building Code standards for the installation of fire sprinklers. Section 13.2 does not apply to: 13.4.1. additions or alterations which have a construction value of less than 25% of the assessed value of the pbuilding prior to the addition or alteration; new buildings lese than 235 square metres in floor area} additions having a floor area less than 235 square metres 3 open air storage shed that: 13.4.4.1. is used for the storage of noncombustible materials, or; 13.4.4.2. is used for parking of not more than five vehicles. All additions and alterations to a building commenced pursuant to any building permit applications made after February 18, 1991 shali be considered cumulatively for the purpose of establishing the valuation and floor area limitations in Section 13.4. A building permit shall not be issued for the construction or alteration of a building referred to in Section 13.2 unless the applicant submits a design drawing showing the location where fire sprinklers will be installed and pays the fee prescribed in Schedule "K" to this Bylaw.
