THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM AUG Mayor and Council , - August 19th, V.G. Borch, P. Eng., Approving Officer Proposed Subdivision of the South Half of Lot 2 and Part of Lot 4, Block H, Block 1 & 2, D/L 464, Group 1, Plan 10715 N.W.D. -~ Hope Lutheran Church ~ File $#13-77 . in May this year the undersigned received an appli- cation from the Hope Lutheran Church for a consolidating subdivision. The Church had previously purchased the lot to the north of the Church property and intended to remove the existing residence from the lot and consolidate the two properties into one property in order to enjoy a tax exem- ption on the purchased lot. The undersigned received some indication that the residents in the immediate area of the proposed subdivision would object to the subdivision and accordingly a letter dated May 24th, 1977 (a copy. of which is attached hereto) was sent to six adjacent property owners. Objections were received by the undersigned from four of the property owners. Most of the objections received were not of a nature to enable the approving officer to refuse approving the subdivision. One objection received, however, did have some merit and a decision to refuse approving the subdivision on the basis of this objection would have to be seriously considered. x 2 ‘ 4 { ‘ i ; i b i i { i All of the above information has been transmitted to the Hope Lutheran Church and the Church has indicated that their main objective is to obtain a tax exemption on the purchased lot. Accordingly they have submitted a letter dated August 2nd, 1977 which requests a tax exemption on the purchased lot. I believe that there is some precedent with other churches in the City for granting a requested tax exemption. Please accept this memorandum as a request that the requested tax exemption be considered by the Council. . re AA ate EEG ann ere Rect Liens bats oa vV.G. Approving Officer. Staten a Pete oe
