After another successful fair this past September, many volunteers hung up their hats. And if more volunteers aren't found to start planning for next year, there won’t be a Fall Fair in 1997. “Unless we get more people involved, we won't be able to get an- other [air organized,’” say Russell Seltenrich, a director of the Fall Fair Association. The fair is always a popular event in Terrace, with events and displays for the whole family, But like any volunteer organi- zation, it sometimes suf- fers when not enough people get involved, “We've had a_ core group of people who’ve worked hard for a number of years. And now many want to take a well- deserved rest,’ says Seltenrich. ‘“‘The problem is that no one else is step- ping forward,’’ Selienrich says that be- cause the problem is or- ganizational, it will affect all the events. Valunteers ‘would give rides to frail seniors for doctor - appointments and shopping, OR help with fall winterizing, yord work and small home repairs. Only eight people are currently showing up to monthly meetings and that’s simp- ly not enough. About 20 people are needed, but even more would be help- ful, **Basically, we need as many people as we can get,”’ Seltenrich says. Volunteers have to be committed to help through the year. The amount of time that will take depends on what projects the volunteers take on. Anyone interested in helping out can go to the annual general meeting November 4, at the Thornhill Junior Secondary library at 8 p.m. “Just show up,” Seltenrich says. ‘I can guarantee you will be welcome.”’ THE 4H EVENTS at the Fall Fair always draw a crowd. But next year there may not be a Fall Fair unless volunteers step forward now to help with planning.
