The recent visit of the Queen of Greece to England has stirred up a storm in the Old Country. She was greeted with demonstrations de- manding release of political prisoners. Picture above shows the Queen (left) as Princess Frederika Louise of Hanover, dressed ina Nazi uniform. With her are her two brothers also dressed in the uni- form of the Nazi youth organization. YOUTH Cont'd. from pg. 7 What is needed is a dyna- mic plan to develop our indus- try and our economy in gen- eral to put our young people _ to work. We cannot accept the concept that would in fact say that Canada, wide and rich as it is, is overpopulated with 18 million people. There is much to be done in Canada — mines to be dug, power dams to be built and many goods to be manufac- tured. Young Canadians are just the people who can do such things. But before these nation- building projects can be car- ried through, a_ decision is needed — a decision which will set -in motion the chain of events that will begin to unleash the potential that is ours. That decision implies that we Canadians will develop our country in the interests of our people. It implies that our tremendous power and re- sources base be develorp:2d ful- ly as the base for full propor- tional industrial development takes into account all parts of our land. It implies Canadian idepen- dence in the full sense of the word, an end to the Ameri- can domination which has led to. the present job-sacrificing distortions and the one-sided - development of our economy as a raw material source for the U.S. Youth themselves are not powerless in the face of the threat to their future. This generation has behind it the traditions of struggle that has always characterized young Canadians. But to fight for one’s future one must first glimpse its pro- mise. Herein lies the contribu- tion of our progressive youth movement. To inspire young Canadians to show them what our future can be, and to help them grasp what is rightfully theirs. abe Nae
