The LPP leader warns, however, that refusal 24 Canada and other countries to trade cannot stop China's development. “On this, the second anniversary of the founding of People’s China, democratic Canadians stretch out their hands in fraternal greeting and international solidarity with the heroic Chinese people,” states Buck. “We know their victory is sure. Our fight to change the policy of the St. Laurent government, from its present bitter hostility, boycott -and war, to one of friendship and trade, is a struggle in the interests of werld peace, of Canada’s prosperity and the happiness and security of all Canadians.” This week Buck sent greetings to Chairman Mao Tse-tung and other leaders of People’s China shown in photo above. A demand that the Coalition cabinet fire mem- bers of the present’ Public Utilities Commission and “reconstitute the commission on a more responsible and democratic basis’ was forwarded to Premier Byron Johnson'‘this week by ‘the Labor-Progressive party, following adjournment of a two-day hearing in Vancouver on the BCElectric’s application for higher domestic and commercial electricity rates. The letter to Premier Johnson was signed by Sid Zlotnik, LPP city organizer.
