March 8th, 1976 Richmond; however, it was decided that Richmend be allowed to keep 20,000 of the 50,000 books to enable them to operate, with the balance of 30,000 being on a rental basis only until such time as they were needed by the FVRL branches; further, there was a proposition made to Richmond whereby for $300,000.00 they could keep the books outright and : the money used to stock the branches of the FVRL with new books. {Ald.Keryluk re Alderman Keryluk referred to what seems to bea misunderstanding icketing-cars parked son City Sts. regarding parked cars in the street and the amount of time given to the iwithout '76 wiicences people of this Community to move them if the cars were not licenced and he commented that it was stated on a radio station there would be 7 days' grace given when no cars would be ticketed; however, he stated he has reason to believe that this report did not originate with the Government as a number of people in this Community, through a misunderstanding of the 7 days' grace were ticketed and he wondered whether anything cculd be done for them. Mayor Campbell stated that the City has a By-law which does not permit cars to be parked on the street longer than 48 hours; however, he advised he would check into the matter tomorrow. lAld. Traboulay re Alderman Traboulay announced that PoCo House has now been closed closure of PoCo House & its poss- and he suggested that consideration be given by the Building & Protection ible use as iDay Care Cen--- gtre Committee for use of that facility as a Day Care Centre in view of the requests received from the PoCo "Happy Times" Parent Participation Pre- School and the Children's House Montessori Pre~School Society for such use of the present library building in the event that the City's library is located in new quarters; and while it was agreed that continued investigation of the requests by the Committee would include the possibility of using PoCo House as a Day Care Centre, it was pointed out that use of Mayor that facility. may be required for other purposes. Mayor Campbell advised Campbell re liv- ing accommod- that the former Director of PoCo House, Dr. R. Metler, had requested ation-PoCo House- aDr.R.Meiler that he be permitted to continue living there until say, June in order a7 ¥ that he would have time to find other accommodation, and it was generally agreed that the matter be referred to the appropriate Committee for study and report to Council. Ald.Mabbett re Alderman Mabbett referred to the ongoing construction in the Laurier- construction-Laurier~ Regina area Regina area and advised there are not sufficient funds to complete the overall project and he stated he hoped that at the Finance Committee meeting on Thursday next, serious consideration would be given to providing the funds required to complete the project.
