Baseball heats up

as Kinsmen feil to Speedee by an 11-5 decision,

The Tuesday night ‘match up saw TDCU take on
Kinsmen.

This game was. called after six innings due to rain and
darkness, but the end result was an. 11-7 victory for
TDCU,

A five run inning along the way was enough to lift
TDCU to defeat Kinsmen. Corey Oliver pitched three in-
nings allowing only two hits-and posting three strikeouts
in TDCU’s winning cause, while Chris Schultz pitched a

. three-up, three-down sixth inning to close out Kinsmen

in the bottom of the sixth,
TDCU returned to the field on Wednesday night look-

ing to. win two in a@ row. TDCU got the start they were,
“looking for by scoring five runs in “the first inning. “Al- ‘

though Speedee battled back to take a 9-@ lead: after
four, TDCU-closed the Bap to 9-8 with a pair of rt runs in
the fifth.

After a scoreless sixth inning, this game was set up

‘for a spectacular seventh i inning: ‘finish.

In the top. of the final inning, Speedee was able to
pick up four, with Sam Western and Jennings Thuen
hitting doubles to bring in three-of the runs.

Then it was simply a matter of Speedee protecting
the. five run lead, The task didn?t turn out ta be easy.
After already getling three, TDCU loaded the bases with
only one out.

Next'up'was Chris Schultz, who hammered a double
tO right-centre field to score two more runs to tic the
game at 13, Luckily for Speedee, Codey Latimer was
able to strikeout the next two batters and get out of the
inning.Speedee narrowly escaped defeat, and settled for
a 13-13 tie with TDCU.

’ Friday’s game was a 7-7 tie between Speedee. and
Kinsmen.The game was close right from start to finish,

Kinsmen scored five runs in the third inning, then
Speedee responded with five of their own in the fourth.
One notable play took place in the top of the fourth
when, with no runners on base, Codey Latimer drove the
ball deep to the fence and chugged around the bases for

- an inside-the-park home run.

This game was also called after six innings of play.
