New Guide for the Operation

of a Before and After School Service

The Fédération des parents
francophones de Colombie-
Britannique is pleased fo an-
nounce its brand new Guide de démar-
rage ef de gestion d’un service de
garde en milieu scolaire (Implemeni-
ation and Operation Guide for School
Age Child Care Service), a relevant,
user-friendly, practical start-up and
management guide for school-based
daycare service.

Given the increased number of re-
quests for information received from
parents over fhe past few months re-
garding the start-up or management
of school-based daycare services in
Conseil scolaire francophone (CSF)
schools, the FPFCB felt that the fime
was ripe to create an instrument to
support anyone wishing to invest in this
type of project.

Within our network, this resource
could help new groups of parents de-
termined to set up a daycare service in
their school, a school parents associa-
tion (APE), or even a preschool parents
association (APP) wishing fo enhance
its services in an effort to better serve

the community.
The Guide also includes an appen-
dix giving numerous examples of essen-
tial documents used by school-based
daycare service managers, particu-
larly with respect to regulations, regis-
trations, and management of human
resources. The Guide also includes a
CD-ROM featuring time-saving working
documents (forms, contracts, etc.) that
managers will be able fo adapt to their
own needs. The key word search func-
tion will undoubtedly speed retrieval of
specific information.

of the Guide will be
distributed to all

Guide will serve as a reference fo in-
spire and encourage parents who may
be interested in establishing school-
based daycare. The Guide will also be
sent to every existing daycare service
in CSF schools. It will also be available
by request for any parent group wish-
ing to undertake this type of project.

possible through CSF funding.
