That the question of the 1985 May Day Parade Route be brought to ‘a
City Council for discussion.and decision. : |

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: | . oo
A delegation of two business persons came to the Parks & Recreation en
Committee requesting that the parade route be altered and not enter oe noe
the. downtown area. The business people claimed that they lost a py
fair amount of business on the parade: day due to the fact that the Ie
shopping public was unable to park in the: downtown area. After the Pe
delegation appeared, a@ Survey was sent to: all the downtown merchants .
as to whether they wished the parade route to be changed... The. Oe
Survey has been distributed Separately... Fifty one surveys were . he
sent. out, thirty seven (37) indicated to leave the parade route as ee
is, four indicated that. they would like the route changed, ten. (10) ue
! did not. respond. as they were either closed or opened late on Satur- ree
day. | j

The. Committee was unable to come to a concensus on the question of
retaining the present. parade raute,_
