QUNC MAR 6 1978 TO: Mayor and Council March 3rd, 1978 FROM: Public Works Committee - Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held on Thursday, March 2nd, 1978 at 3:45 p.m. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. ITEM I Re: No Parking - Toronto Street The Committee has received a request from the Fire Chief and accordingly recommends that No Parking regulations be established on the east side of Toronto Street from the No. 2 Firehall to Prairie Avenue. ; ITEM Il Re: Anita Drive Storm Sewer In accordance with Council's direction, the Committee met with four residents of Anita Drive. After a lengthy dis- cussion it was decided that sufficient support from residents on Anita Drive could not be obtained in order to consider under- taking this work under a Local Improvement Programme. The Committee advised the residents present that a storm sewer installation (possibly for a portion of the street) would be part of the Committee's 1978 Budget submission. The residents requested an opportunity to speak to Council at the March 13th, 1978 Council Budget Meeting. LITEM IIT Re: Pedestrian Activated Traffic Light - Viscount Elementary School Further to Council's decision to install a pedestrian actuated traffic light on Prairie Avenue at Viscount Elementary School, the City Engineer has discussed the proposed installation with the R.C.M.P., School District No. 43, and Z. Kuun, Traffic Consultant. It was unanimously agreed that the traffic light should be placed at the former mid-block crosswalk location on Prairie Avenue between Flint Street and Oxford Street and that the three crosswalk postings at Flint Street and Oxford Street ‘be removed. The estimated cost of a traffic light installation at the mid-block location is $5,500.00. [acuee
