NOTICE
OF A SPECIAL CONVENTION OF
THE UNION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA MUNICIP/LITIES

Please be advised that the U.B.C.M. Executive, meeting in Vancouver today,
November 3rd, has decided to call a Special Convention of the U.B.C.M. for the
purpose of examining the Report of the Review Committee on Regional Districts,
which is expected to be made available in the near future.

In accordance with the U.B.C.M. By-laws, this correspondence will. be deemed to be
the official Notice of that Special Convention,

DATE AND TIMING

The Special Convention will be held on MONDAY, DECEMBER lith, 1978, commencing
at 9:00 a.m. It is anticipated that the meeting will conclude by 5:00 p.m.

PLACE

The Special Convention will take place in the British Columbia Room, Hotel Van-
couver, 900 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, B.C.

TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

The Report of the Review Committee on Regional Districts,with such other matters
as may be deemed necessary by the Executive of the U.B.C.M.

REGISTRATION

Delegates who intend to be present at this Special Convention are requested tc
advise the U.B.C.M. Office (Suite 204 ~ 604 Blackford Street, New Westminster) by
mail of their intention to attend. Registration forms are enclosed. There will
be no registration fee. . :
PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL REGISTRATION FORMS ARE RETURNED TO THE U.B.C.M. OFFICE £5

ACCOMMODATION

A block reservation of up to 300 rooms has been made by the U.3B.C.ii. in the Hotel
Vancouver, for arrival on Sunday evening, December 10th. Delezates who wish to
to take advantage of this block reservation should advise the Hctel Vancouver dir
ectly and NOT through the U.B.C.M. office. Such direct contacts to the Hotel
Vancouver should be addressed to the Reservations Department, Hotel Vancouver,

900 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6C 1P9. Telephone No. 684-3131. All
delegates are responsible for making their ow individual. accommodation reserva-
tions, either in the Hotel Vancouver or elsewhere,

COMMENT

This notice is sent to all U.B.C.M. members in anticipation that the Report of

the Review Committee on Regional Districts will be released shortly hy the Minister
and it is also expected that sufficient time will be available between the release
of the Heport and the date of the Special Convention to enable al) delegates to
have familiarized themselves with the subject matter.
