Northern University - corined tom page nt fax number. The point of this story is to demonstrate how highly we are regarded by the minister as an important part of the north and how important it is that we have fair representation on the interim Board of Governors. Well, this at least is one promise that Strachan has kept. Joyce Krause of Terrace and Hans Wagner of Kitimat have both been appointed to the board, . and from this point on we should be a part of the university scheme. But the real light at the end of the tunnel comes from Hans Wagner. Wagner is the chairman of the NWCC board of trustecs and understands the educational needs of the Northwest. His first committment to the Terrace ‘Review was to keep us informed. He says their inaugural meeting will be held in Prince George on April 17 and he's promised to let us know what happened as soon as he returns. The first point he wants to get across to his peers is that the Northwest is a long ways from Prince George. That’s probably the right place to start. Wagner himself wasn’t aware of his appointment when Strachan was giving the scoop to Prince George. From this frightful beginning, however, it seems that things are on track for a truly all "Northern" _ university. Krause is currently the director of nursing at Mills Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Implementation Planning Group. She understands the Northern university concept. Wagner works at the management level at Alcan is is Chairman of » ~ the. Nwcc board. “y feel he can : provide fair direction from our region," says NWCC president Don Anderson. From this point on, we should be kept up to date on the implementa- tion of the University of Northem B.C. Thanks to one of our own governors on the board, our next chapter in this developing story should appear in the pages of the April 25 Terrace Review.
