SUBJECT: Equipment Replacement Purchases For 1993

Tenders for the replacement of existing equipment have been prepared for 1993 asset
forth in the Equipment Replacement Schedule. The total estimated replacement-cost in-
1993 was set at $530,300 from the Equipment Reserve Fund. Upon reviewing'the _
condition of the existing fleet, we have determined that several units will not require "~~~
replacement until the following calendar year. The net savings from the differed purchases
totals $50,300. The revised cost estimate for equipment replacement in 1993 will arnount
to $480,000. The proposed 1993 equipment replacement list includes three full size
pickup trucks, and one smaller pickup truck, two utility step vans, one tandem axle dump
tuck, one backhoe and various smaller equipment.

Would you kindly review this request with the Public Works Committee for their
approval in principle and presentation to City Council, so I may proceed with the
tendering and purchasing of the equipment for 1993.
