. ' THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COGUITIAM C 0 lJ REPORT N C SEP 49 1977 TO: Mayor and Council .. September 16th, 1977 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting’held Thursday, September 8th, 1977 at 7:30 a.m. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman M.A. Thompson V.G. Borch, P, Eng. ITEM I Re: Lane North of Kern Chevrolet . Attached is a copy of a letter dated August 18th, 1977 from Kern Chevrolet Ltd. requesting that the lane which is presently closed at-Oxford Street be opened. . : Several years ago this lane was closed to prevent west bound traffic on Westminster Avenue from using the lane as a shortcut to the Lougheed Highway. If the lane were to be opened at Oxford, this possibility would still exist. Never- theless the Committee feels that the Kern Chevrolet operation depends to a considerable degree on access from the lane and that the raised median on the Lougheed Highway at Cambridge effectively prevents the operation from enjoying lane access for all business from the west. i j j 5 t | ! } 1 | i j z | t j The Committee recommends that the lane north of Kern Chevrolet Ltd. be opened at Oxford and that speed bumps be installed and properly posted in the lane west of the body shop. Residents north of the lane on Westminster have been notified of the Kern request, the Committee recommendation and the date of the Council Meeting. ITEM II Re: Bicycle Race ~- September 25th, 1977 Attached is a letter dated August 26th, 1977 from the Anglia-Norco Bicycle Club.
