Mr. R.A. Freeman, ‘Date: May 13, 1977 City Clerk From: Mr. R.G. Criggie C 0 U N C Senior By-Law Officer MAY 16 (977 Re: Paper Boxes Throughout the City Several complaints have been received recently regarding the three major papers Namely the Vancouver Sun, Province and the Columbian, with respect to the untidy conditions being left in and around the delivery boxes in different areas of the City. I have very recently phoned the Circulation Managers, and asked tneir co- operation in keeping the area surrounding the boxes free of litter, and they assure me of their co-operation, however this will last for a couple of weeks and the same thing will again happen. I have asked Mr. Kim when complaints are phoned in to City Hall to get the parks crew to clern up the litter, which is done, but I do not think it is the City's responsibility to keep cleaning up around these boxes. (Wires, string and papers). Suggestion: The Paper boxes could be left in the yard of the delivery boy, or the City could ask the paper Companies responsible to have the boxes removed. a tor By-Law Officer
