/8. September 29th, 1975 Ald.Keryluk re Alderman Keryluk referred to the unpaved section of Laurier Avenue ‘short-cut' route- aurier W. Cst. immediately West of Coast Meridian Road that youngsters are using as a . Rd., etc. short-cut route, and he pointed out that this has caused a potentially dangerous situation to arise as a large hole has developed in the ditch that the children have to cross to get onto the road and also parents stopping cars in this section to unload students going to the George Pearkes Junior Secondary School, and he requested that this be looked into as quickly as possible. Alderman Keryluk also mentioned the untidy appearance of the area caused by students discarding lunch bags, etc. d.Thompson re Alderman Thompson then referred to the traffic problems facing construction delay- oq. River residents working outside the City daily due to the inadequacy of the bridge, etc. local highways to handle the increased volume, and he proposed the following resolution: Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That a letter be sent to Premier Barrett inquiring as to the delay in construction of the Coquitlam River bridge crossing, the Lougheed Highway, and the Shaughnessy--Lougheed Highway intersection. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued, and it was generally agreed that as well as sending the letter proposed, that Mayor Campbell contact the P~emier in an attempt to arrange for a meeting with him earlier on the same day as the official opening of the Hyde Creek Centre that he will be attending. d.Thompson re Alderman Thompson inquired as to the status of the further report eport~Aggie Hall enovations being prepared on the proposed Aggie Hall renovations, and the City Administrator aivised that this has been received by the City Engineer; however, it was felt submission thereof should be deferred until Alderman Traboulay's return. d.Mabbett re Alderman Mabbett then spoke in praise of the newly completed Fox ox St. Park & estwood Street Park and the almost~completed Westwood Tennis Courts and suggested ennis Courts that members of Council and the public should endeavour to view these excellent facilities. d.Mabbett re Alderman Mabbett advised he had been contacted by a number of “minor hockey time parents with respect to the times allocated for minor hockey, and stated that the Recreation Director would be meeting with that Association tomorrow in an effort to solve the problem.
