A new B,C.-praduced calendar of- fering the wisdom of the mountains is now available, | The Multifaith Calendar 2002 re- presents 13 different world faiths, ar- ranging each month's festivals and holy days by religion in chronologi- cal order, © The calendar is illustrated with photographs and paintings depicting mountains from around the world. After all, 2002 has been declared the International Year of Mountains by the United Nations, But the calendar’s real strength is the insight it gives into the obser- vances of so many different faiths, With all the trouble in the post Sept. 11 world these days, that kind of information couldn’t be more timely. “Let’s hope the wisdom of the mountain will come into play,” says Jane Dickson, a member of the Ter- race and District Multicultural Asso- ciation. Hindus celebrated one of their biggest festivals last week, Diwali, dedicated to Lakshimi, the Goddess of Wealth in most of the country. “It’s the only calendar of it’s kind,” Dickson said, She sees it as a tool for building awareness between different cul- tures, “That’s why I think it’s so neat,” she added. “It’s a wonderful thing for schools and government offices,” Copies of the calendar will be on sale at the Terrace Art Association's arts and crafts sale at the Terrace Art Gallery Nov. 30 and Dec, 1. He adds volunteers are needed to help out with concession and ticket sales’ during the two-day event, Scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the Terrace Art Gallery, The annual sale features the best of the region’s arts and crafts. This year look for a wide range of wares, from original painting and artwork to pottery, handmade orna- ments and decorations. Strumecki said other products in- clude wood carvings, and even hand- brewed, all-natural body products. Children’s clothing, crocheted items, photographs, dried flowers and gift baskets of homemade jams and antipastos will also be available.
