Keynote speaker is long-time peace activist and ‘philosopher John Somerville, author of numerous works on the arms race and the peace movement. Somerville will also speak at a special, admission-free engagement open to the public at Christ Church Cathedral, corner of Burrard and West Georgia Streets, at 8 p.m. Friday night. Vancouver and District Labor Council president Frank Kennedy, Trade Union Research Bureau head Emil Bjarnason, and educators Luis Sobrino, Michael Wallace and Lois Boyce are some of the major local speakers at the conference.
