Will you help? BY WILLIAM STEWART - Last week a ‘March for Life’ paraded 30 miles from White Rock to Vancouver. When the March began in White Rock Leo Brady was among the 26 starters, with his children. When the March ended 32 hours later at -Vic- tory square, Leo Brady and his six children were still among the marchers, Leo Brady has a wooden leg. He lost his leg in action in World War 2. We are not asking you to march 30 miles on a wooden leg for peace. But each of us can pause and reflect. What equivalent contribution—with two legs—have we made for the cause of peace? e Look at the figures above. You will see that the. P.T. Drive for 2,000 new subs and renewals is lagging badly. A very serious concentration is needed in the next few weeks to ensure. its SUCCESS. The P.T. is the most power- ful weapon B.C. workers have in the fight for peace. Will you match the courage and tenacity displayed by Leo Brady by doing everything within your power to guaran- tee the success of our current drive? @ e A letter from E.P. in Trail tells us he is going to take on Searle Freidman of Vancouver, in a race for the most new readers in the current drive. F.K., Vancouver, has also thrown his hat into the ring ‘as has yours truly. Anybody else. Next week we will give a rundown on, the race. R.W. visited Powell River, Campbell River and Cumber- land last week and everybody- went out on a bee. You can see the results on the board. Thanks R.W. and everybody in those three areas. Elsewhere in Provincial points North Surrey, Victoria, Pi. Alberni and Surrey Indus- trial are setting the example. We select Victoria as the Pro- vincial club of the week this week. __In Vancouver, Kensington is eur choice for club of the week. Seamen, Hastings East, Bayview, South Burnaby, Ad- vance and Rigid are doing quite well but both in the city and other areas there are still clubs which are not holding up their end. Perhaps we should make excuses. We are all just recov- ering from a splendid summer and just managed to shake off the holiday spirit. . We have just nicely got the kids back to school, patched the roof against the coming rains, painted the storm win- dows, ripped out the garden and adjusted our -blood to the cooler weather. What do you say we turn our faces now to the Pacific Tribune Drive for 2,000 read- | ers, and pledge that our press club will be up in the top bracket when the scores are posted again on October 20? That’s a bet! ; October 6, 1961—PACIFIC TRIBUNE—Page 11
