THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM JAN 16 1978 TO: Mayor and Aldermen January 13th, 1978 FROM: R.A. Freeman City Clerk Re: Burning Permit ~ Nu-West Development Corporation Ltd. Mr. A. Schellenberg, General Manager of Nu-West Corporation Ltd. was in my office on January 13th, 1978 respecting the burning permit for his company's Cedar Drive property and a copy of the burning permit authorized by Council on November 23th, 1977 is reproduced on the reverse side of this memorandum. If Council will refer to Section 3 of the Permit it will see that the following statement is made concerning the period during which burning would be conducted: "A consecutive 7 day period between between December Sth and 16th, 1977 or between January 9th to 20th, 1978. It is intended to burn day and night with a 24 hour fire watch so that the burning period is minimized. ‘Due to unfavourable weather conditions in December burning was not started until January 9th, 1978 and due to the terms of the City's Noise By-law and its prohibition on the operation of heavy equipment needed to keep the fire going it has apparently not been possible for the company to complete the burning as quickly as possible. Additionally, the Noise By-law prohibits the operation of heavy equipment on Sunday and it is therefore not intended to burn on Sunday, January 15th, 1978. Mr. Schellenberg has asked me to request that the Council eliminate the restriction contained in the Permit for a "consecutive 7 day period" and permit burning to take place on the property from January 17th to 20th, ‘1978 inclusive. Mr. Schellanberg points out that this would result in a total burning period of 10 days rather than the 7 originally specified. ‘May we have the Council's instructions please. COR 4 an City Clerk
