May 26th, 1975 Alderman Keryluk suggested that Beak Consultants be advised that the Council requires prior notification of aerial spraying as this must be authorized. Alderman Keryluk then referred to copies of an anonymous notice distributed to members of Council opposing the use of Malathion for mosquito control, and expressing the view that it "does little to deter the mosquito which has developed a resistance to malathion", and he stated he had discussed the use of malathion with the Vector Control Officer who advised that Dr. Robert Costello, an expert on pest control and pesticides, had made the statement that in our area there is no such thing as a mosquito with resistance to malathion. Alderman Keryluk referred to a copy of a letter received from the Association of Concerned Citizens to the Greater Vancouver Regional District suggesting that priority be given to persons in Port Coquitlam and immediate areas seeking rent available in the proposed renial units and he suggested that the City support the request of the Association by forwarding a letter and stating that the Council concurs; however, Mayor Campbell advised that Mr. Wm. Casson, Director of Housing, G.V.R.D., informed him that he had received the letter and that he would endeavour to comply with the request. Alderman Ranger referred to his intent stated earlier this evening to propose resolutions for forwarding to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, and these were then made as follows: Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That a resolution be forwarded to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities referring to the fact that mobile homes in some cases get a tax refund rather than paying taxes, and proposing that the Mobile Home Act be amended to ensure that mobile homes are fairly and equitably taxed, Carried.
