COMMUNITY CARE FACILITIES FOR CHILDREN 2 IN RESIDENTIAL ARFAS JUN 18 1973 . JUN 2.5 1973 I will outline the steps which followed the recommendation by the - Health & Welfare Committee to Council requesting that the Planning & Zoning Committee prepare by-laws which would allow Day Care Uses in residential areas. The Planning & Zoning Committee then asked that staff compile all the awilable " information in regards to this type of facility and present it for discussion ‘ 7 | at a future Planning & Zoning Committee meeting. On March 39th, 1973 a report | from the Planning Officer was presented to the Committee which outlined the various criteria and information available on Community Care Facilities. After discussion by the Committee, a request for a further report which would outline the various alternatives to implement Day Care as well as feasible by-laws was recommended. This report was prepared and submitted at a subsequent meeting & and recommended the following: ; 1. Solicit submissions by various interested groups prior to the adoption of recommendations three and four. . : 2. The Planning & Zoning Committee and Health & Welfare Committee jointly sponsored an open public meeting in regards to these facilities. 3. Permit the establishment of Preschool Group Services, Kinder- gartens and Nurseries in the P-2 zone with regulations that would enhance the use. 4. The Zoning By-law should be revised in the RS-1, RM-1, RM-2 i . zones to permit Day Care FAcilities for Group Dav Care up to 8 children, Child y Cay Care up to 5 children and the afl would be achieved in a sitilar Manner ag the Personal Care Use that is now Loeccccceceneee
