The grant is a part of $6,653,749 given to 83 public libraries in the province as a result of the final report released by the New Ap-- proaches Task Force on Public Libraries. Library Board vice-chairman Judy Chrysler says it is uncertain how the money will be used at this point, but there are several projects being considered and one or more of them will likely go ahead. . Some of the projects which have been discussed by the board this year include an on- line computer access to replace the present card catalogue, air conditioning, replacing some furniture, expanding their video collection, the addition of new washrooms and an overall study of the library as a whole, More awards The Canadian Community Newspaper Association recently announced that the Heart of Gold program, a joint effort of the CCNA and Air Canada to recognize Canadians who have made outstanding contributions to life in their communities, at- tracted more than 5,600 nomina- tions from across the country. Three of those nominations — Pamela Straker and Ewen Harvie — came from Terrace. The judging panels, made up of editors and publishers of newspapers in the association, are currently assessing the nominations to determine who will get the 100 regional awards.
