It’s a 16-team modified double-knockout series, Kermodes drawn against num- ber nine-ranked Seaquam in their opener. Kermodes are ranked sixth. Should they win their first game, they’d likely meet top- Ho captures curling Prince Rupert has a provincial curling champion who will have ‘had a chance at adding another title to her list by the time you read this story. The Christine Ho foursome wound up three days of B.C. high school girls curling playdowns with a 9-3 sudden- death victory over the represen- tatives from Osoyoos. The playdown at Williams Lake saw Ho and the Osoyoos gals each post six-win and one- loss marks in the eight-team round-robin portion. This set up the extra game that Ho won in what was her fourth crack at this championship. It also gave her the spark she’d need to continue on to the B.C. junior ladies champion- ships at Trail starting last Wednesday. It would be a rare double if Ho won that event as well. The zone rep for boys was Kenny Scherk of Rupert, and he came up with a fourth place finish. He wound up his round- robin withefour wins and three Pee 's:fourth win came in his final. match against the champions from Spectrum in Victoria. Kiwanis peewees win minor tournament Kitimat Kiwanis peewees needed an overtime shootout to down Smithers 4-3 and win their own peewee rep team Minor Hockey tournament on the Feb. 27 weekend. In the playoff for bronze medals, Prince Rupert blanked Terrace 8-0.. Hazelton won the consolation playoff by downing Kitimat’s house bantams 4-1. Prince Rupert was named the most sportsmanlike team. For individual honors, Kit- imat peewees’ Tommy Nieminen was named best goalie, while Kitimat bantam’s Blair Bletcher was selected top forward.
