As a society the Totem Saddle Club promotes and manages: gymkhanas, horse shows, rides and_ lec- tures. Over this past year, the club has a new hunt ' course designed by Nick High point Dan Muller is a member of the Totem Saddle Club. For 14 years In a row Muller has won the titla of consecutive high point rider for the Western Games Division. Thank you } . Challenge ’86 brought about the construction of a new 17 stall barn, some campsites with cor- rals, stationary bleachers were painted as were the barn and fences and other existing structures. Knull stated that the challenge programs were government grants ap- plied for by the club. “‘This program employs an average of six Students for a 10 week period, explained Knull. The Totem Saddle Club holds an average of six gymkhanas per year. ‘‘We’ve had on an average 28 riders par- ticipating, the oldest be- .ing 40 and the youngest seven years of age,’ Knull added. “We sponsor several horse shows and riding clinics per year, Knull said. The C.E.F. Spring Permit Show was held in May of this year in order to select a B.C. Summer Games Equestrian team. Six were chosen: Jason Rempel, Lyn Lavoie, Tina Knull, Colleen Anderson, Peggy Jack- son and Francis Knull. While competing in the B.C. Summer Games, Peggy Jackson came within one point of a bronze medal in the western division. ‘We were very pleased,’’ Knull said. Air Pollutants In Space Pose Health Hazards A Los Alamos National Labo- ratory study predicts that airborne particles at zero gravity settle in the human respiratory tract dif- ferently than they do on Earth. The theoretical study states that common air pollutants such as dust, bacteria, and smoke could present potential health hazards for pioneers manning future space stations or galactic colonies.
