Public Relations Chamber/Council Liason: ~The Chamber of Commerce hopes to coordinate its planning for the period leading up to the summer of 1986 with the councils of the mmicipalities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody. ‘To achieve a high level of information . exchange and coordination of planning the Chamber proposes to hold regular dinner or luncheon meetings with members of the three municipal councils to establish priorities and to plan methods designed to achieve our mitual goals. 6. Special . Projects - -The Chamber of Commerce hopes ‘to establish a tourist information and travellers! rest are adjacent to Highway No. 1 somewhere in the area between the Port Mann Bridge and the Brunette exits. It was initially planned that this site would be ready for the 1984 summer season, however, it has now become apparent that this time table will not be met. The Chamber now plans to establish a temporary site adjacent to Highway No. lL at the foot of Blue Mountain Road which will be ready tin time for the 1984 tourist season. ‘The Chamber intends to work with other Chambers of Commerce and local commnity spirited organizations to press the Provincial Ministry of Highways to build in our target area a travellers’ rest area similar to the one which currently exists on Highway No. 1 in the Abbotsford District. If sucha facility has been constructed in time for Expo 86 the Chamber of Commerce intends to move its tourist booth from the planned temporary facility to this permanent site. 7. Advertising & Promotion ~In 1985 the Chamber expects to be heavily involved in pre- paring publications and media presentations to promote our area with reference to the 1986 B.C.
