Extended Benefits Coverage. We have been under contract for the last few years with C.U. & C. for Extended Health Benefits coverage. This is a fringe benefit provided under our Union Agreement and covers certain drug and prescription cost ever and above the regular Ggovernment Medical Program. The contract with C.U. & C. is on an annual basis and terminates at the end of the year. We have received a proposal from Medical Services Association quotiug a rate slightly below the present C.U. & C. rate. The difference is small, the present rate with C.U. & C. being $2.47 and the new rate quoted by M.S.A. is $2.40. The total saving to the City and employees jointly is therefore only a total of about $10. per month. The M.S.A. proposal does have some additional coverage which includes hearing aid coverage up to a $500. maximum and coverage for. orthopedic shoes with no dollar limit. We have discussed this proposal with the Union and they ‘are in agreement that we should change the coverage from C.U. & C. to M.S.A. at their quoted rate to provide coverage for 1979. I would therefore recommend to Council that we make this change. (COL LOS City Administrator va ¢ r sewer me a . ede Tadd,
