EDITOR'S CORNER Well, one month on the job and except for locking myself out of my truck with the engine running, in a no-parking zone, in front of a fire hydrant on Granville Island when dropping off the mail for the Guild, things seem to be going fairly well. Thanks go to Jan, Kaoru, Lea and Tam for general help and support and also to Gillian McMillan for doing the newsletter mailing in January. About the election and enclosed ballot: We hope the choice of a mail-in ballot or voting at the AGM will make the election as democratic as possible. Please refer to the instructions on page 4 entitled Election “94 on how to use your mail-in ballot, Regarding the newsletter: | could use help in two areas: content and production. If you would like to help with the mailing please call me. We usually do the mailing on the morning of the first Friday of the month, but if there is another time you could help let me know and [ will see if things can be changed. The newsletter is here to help you communicate with each other, If you have ary item that you would like to pass on to other potters please let me know. “Any item" means stuff like a book that excited you, a pottery video you saw, an exhibition you visited, a trick you discovered that saves time in your studio, any clay related event that is happening in your part of the province, Basically, anything that you think someone else might enjoy. Short pieces are best but longer, in-depth articles are always welcome, This is your community newsletter, help me make it as useful as it can be for you. y STUDIO 5 SPACE: GRANVILLE ISLAND The Potters’ Guild of B.C. offers the use of an equipped studio on a subsidized basis to a person working in clay in Canada and who is at an early stage in their career, The space in question is one of five in a large group studio (the other four are privately leased from CMHC), with tenure from May Ist to April 30th the following year. The 1994 monthly cost, including utilities, is $200, plus GST. The successful applicant will be selected by the Board of the Potters’ Guild from those applications received at the Guild office by February 28, 1994.
