OUNCIL THE CORPORATION OF THE CiTY OF FORT COQUITLAM NOV 24 19096 MEMORANDUM TO: City Administrator November 20, 1986 FROM: City Engineer SUBJECT: Seymour Street Drainage = Public Works Committee November 18, 1986 Recommendation: That a new catch basin and storm sewer ba Installed In the low point on Seymour Street at an estimated cost of about $6,000.00 and that funds be provided from the future capital. reserve. Background and Comments: Seymour Street north of Davies Avenue Is a narrow lane with a serious dratnage problem. The only drains In the area are soak-aways and the one on Seymour Street has become. choked with silt and roots and no l!onger functions. Consequentiy there is a puddite of up to a three tnch depth extending entirely across the width of the street. This is a great inconvenience to the residents of the area which Include a number of senfor citizens. The neares+ storm sewer in the area Is on Gordon Avenue and the cost of extending a storm sewer from this location to the low spot in the tane Is about $6,000.00. Although this Is not budgeted in the 1986 budget, the Committee feels that this is serflous enough to warrant the provision of extra funds. The only alternative available Is the construction of another soak~ away nearby with an extension from the low spot. This Is a makeshift solution which would not be as effective for drainage as a storm sewer connection but may solve most of the problem for a few years. The cost of this alternative solution would be about $1,000.00 P. Eng-, F.E. Peters, City Engineer FEP:Jjth 45 "Te eal ete tia ae Spd AR attest NSC Pee ea ae et ANE ph Lt gta A > 2
