City Engineer SUBJECT: Computer Uparade ~ Raemecri Departoneat (Public Works Commnuittce ing of June 25, 1991) That the City of Port Coquitlam upgrade the computer used by the Engineering Department for computer utility modelling based on an estimated cost of $9,600. That $3,200 be allocated from the Drainage DCC Fund, that $3,200 be allocated from the Water DCC Fund, and that $3,200 be allocated from the Sanitary Sewer DCC Fund for this purpose. Attached is a memorandum from the Deputy City Engineer regarding the upgrading of the computer used by the Engineering Deparment for the sanitary, storm, and water computer models. | The Engineering Department presently maintains City-wide computer models for the storm sewer system, the sanitary sewer system, and the water distribution system, using a five year old 286 (10 MHz) IBM Compatible Computer with 640K random access memory (RAM), a 20 meg hard drive with math co-processor and a monochrome monitor. This system is inadequate for running new engineering software. : | The updated versions of our computer models and software now require computers that run at a faster speed, which have more memory, and which use a VGA colour manitor. . As these computer models are required for the development of the drainage, water, and sanitary DCC’s, it is recommended that the upgrading costs be allocated from the respective Development Cost Charge Funds.
