i His Ses ae AS @ matter of interest, the G.V.R.D. Hospital Board's prime function is to deal with matters related to the Capital financing needs of hospitals. The interest and controversy created by the initial blanning paper of Fraser Burrard Hospital Society prompted the G.V.R.D. Hospital Board to establish s committee to review the operational aspects of the Royal Columbian, Eagle Ridge and St. Mary's Hospitals which alsa provides services to the area. The committee has yet to report back to the G.V.R.D. Hospital Board, but its findings will be reported to Council on receipt. One major area of concern to the community is the lack of local representation on the Board of the Praser Burrard Hospital Society. It is therefore my recommendation that the Ministry of Health be petitioned to appoint members at large to the Beard from Port Moody, Port Coquitlam and Coquitiam. If this requires an enlarged Board, so be it. The needs of the communities served by the Hospitals can best be identified by iocal residents serving on the Fraser 8urrard Hospital Society Board. I therefore propose the following resolution, which should also be communicated to the Port Coquitlam and Coquitian Councils for endorsement and action. RECOMMENDATION: THAT the City of Port Moody request that the Ministry of Health increase the number of sitting members of the Fraser Burrard Hospital Society to provide for the appointment of a member at large to represent the City of Port Moody AND THAT a copy of this report and resolution be forwarded to the Councils of the District of Coquitlam and the City of Port Coquitlam. - Yo! ae lL ra 2 Ct A.W.
