Carried. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell introduced Mr. Steve Ross, 4070 Oxford Street who then made a presentation to Council on the petition against having a four-way STOP at Oxford Street and Lincoln Avenue. Mr. F. Rawlings, 3665 Oxford Street, stated that the four-way STOP was needed for the safety of pedestrians and motorists. Mrs. E. Dennis, 3663 Oxford Street, stated when she conducted a petition last year everyone was in favour of a four-way STOP at the intersection of Oxford Street and Lincoln Avenue and stated in her opinion the change in traffic speed has been noticed in the one week the four-way STOP has been installed. Discussion then ensued and Alderman Keryluk suggested a trial period to see how the four-way STOP works and Aldermen Laking and Mabbett spoke in support of the proposal. Aiderman Traboulay stated that the Public Works Committee should decide on the type of traffic control required based on engineering data; not political consideration. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: STA isnt acta HIS seat That the four-way STOP on Oxford Street at Lincoln Avenue be re- examined in 60 days; THAT the Public Works Committee prepare a report to Council at that time; AND THAT the residents be invited to present their views on the four- way STOP at that time.
