The Carried ITEM IIl MARKING OF STORM DRAINS Sheri Gillies dated October 5, 1990 requesting information about the Ministry of Environments program to mark storm drains. Sheri Gillies was in attendance as a delegation, and explained that she had read information in the local newspaper that the District of Coquitlam Municipal Hall could be contacted for information, but she felt that since she was a Port Coquitlam resident she would like to work through ouz City stazf. It was the Committee's understanding that the Province provided yellow paint and stencilsU snd the Municipalities provided maps to the guide groups, who in turn would stencil the yellow fish symbol beside each storm drain, thereby allerting people to the fact that water or substances from these facilities would go to the storm sewer system. The Committee directed City staff to research the matter, contact the Port Coquitlam Guide's Association to make arrangements for provisions of these kits, and then report back to Committee. Mr. Grist is soliciting support in their Club's request to have an adequate supply of water available on a regular basis to the small salmon and steelhead hatchery located on the River and operated by volunteers of the Port Coquitlam and DistrictCoquitlam Hunting and Pishing Club. It was noted that this particular problem has been ongoing for several and the Committee felt it would be advantageous to invite Mr. Al Gristyears to the next meeting so that the Committee could be fully updated on the current situation. Therefore the Committee decided the correspondence, and any action from the City of Port Coquitlam would that held in abeyance until after tine meeting with Mr. Grist. ITEM I: TROPOSHERIC OZONE FOSECATING SERVICE correspondence from the District of Maple Ridge dated District of Pitt Meadows dated October 4, 1990, and 1990, the September 14, the District of Abbotsford dated August 21, 1990 zegazding the establishment of a Troposheric Ozone Forecasting Service foz out'rea. It was noted that these three Municipalities support a letter to the Honorable Robert de Cotret, Minister of the Environment from the Community Education ou Environment and Development Centre in Maple Ridge for the establishment of a Troposheric Ozone Concentration Forecast Service which would include levels of carbon dioxide nitrogen dioxide (N02), sulpher dioxide (S02), and suspended (CO), particulates. The information collected would be made available to the general population through a bulletin board service operated by the Community Education on Environment and Development Centre, or by telephone. The main purpose would be to forecast when levels were expect d to be high or above uormal, hence presenting a danger to children or seniozs. The Committee considered that Council foz the City of Port Coquitlam endorse request by C.E.E.D. to establish a Troposheric Ozone Concentration Forecasting Service in the Maple Ridge area, and further that this resolution be copied to sll M.P.s and M.L.A.s.
