From the Senior Building Inspector, November 27th, 1975, advising re Farm Building Code-City's that the Building & Protection Committee recommends adoption of the Farm Bldg.B/law Building Code for incorporation in the City's Building By-law. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the recommendation of the Building & Protection Committee as set forth in a report from the Senior Building Inspector, November 27th, 1975, that the Farm Building Code be adopted for incorporation in the City's Building By~law, be approved. Tabled. Prior to tabling of the foregoing motion, a discussion ensued and Alderman Laking inquired how severe the Farm Building Code would be and the Senior Building Inspector advised that it is like the National Building Code - minimum requirements. Alderman Thompson inquired whether the Committee had perused the Farm Building Code as yet, and the Senior Building Inspector advised that only the 1970 Code is available, as due to the mail strike, it was not possible to obtain the current edition from the Nationai Research Council. Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the foregoing proposed resolution to adopt the Farm Building Code for incorporation in the City’s Building By-law be deferred until January 19th, 1976. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, the Senior Building Inspector stated he wished to re-emphasize the importance of reguiations for farm buildings as some agricultural ventures are almost commercial in nature, such as a riding stable, etc., where there is an assembly of people other than the immediate family. Alderman Mabbett suggested that the Building Inspector find out what such neighbouring municipalities as Surrey and Maple Ridge ~ with the same type of problems the City has - do with respect to this Building Code. SFHU re Chemical From the Simon Fraser Health Unit, November 28th, 1975, advising Packaging & Tank Farm-1651 that the application by Reco-4 Chemical Company Western Ltd. for construction Kingsway of a plant for packaging chemicals and a tank farm for chemical storage at 1651 Kingsway Avenue has been reviewed, submitting a letter received from the firm outlining its method of preventing chemical pollution, and stating that the Health Unit has no objections to approval of the application.
