On Seprember 26th and 27th, Aare Nelson of our workshop committee co- organized che Phil Rogers Workshop, to be held at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby. Together with Capilano College, Fraser Valley Porters Guild and Shadbals Centos, we are very fortunate to be able to bring such greac internacional porters to our aren! Many, many thanks to Sharon Reay and ber staff at the Shadbole Centre for doing so much of the legwork; thanks too to Guiry Mearefi far instigating this workshop on behalf of Capilano College, and for providing a lovely home fer Phil and his wife Lynne to stay in while in Wareowver. Currencly exhibiting in che Gallery s Takako Suzuki's Small is Beautiful!, a wonderful collection of small lidded containers, wich different knobs and feet on each one! On October 3rd, che Gallery will open Scratching the Surface of Middle America, new work by Sale Spring artist Gary Cherneff, This show was to be in cenjunetian with another artist, mosaicist Dimitry Komarov; unfortunately, Dirniery withdrew at che Jase minute. The Gallery will be closed for the week of October 30th to November Sth (Friday to Thursday), and will reopen on Friday, Newember 6th with che opening of Rachelle Chinnery’s exhibit Embodiment. This opening will be from 6-8pm on the Friday night. The feature arrisc-of-the-month for September has been Kathryn O'Regan, whose organic, hand-built vessels “embody a continuous line, lyrical and resonant with sound and colour”. fn October, the Gallery looks forward to the wack of new member, Diana Ambida, So, the renovation isa go!!! Currenc plans (which of course can change!) are that the contractors will come in ta build the new walls around the existing studio 5 area im mid-Ocrober. They will recur the week of Ocrober 30 - November 3 to teardown existing walls and build the storage room. During this week, the Gallery will be closed so char we can paint, redo the plinchs/displays, and ser up anew sales desk. We need volunteers!! If you can spare even an hour or owo (of course, we wouldn't say no to more!), and want to participare in this grand updating of the Gallery, please call!! Any help would be very welcome - either with moving the pots around, or with painting, etc, We plan oo have a great opening gala in cenyunetion with the Christmas Exhibit - more details to follow, After receiving feedback about the December exhibir, Sale & Pepper secs, che theme of the exhibit has been expanded to include other condiment-type table ware: gravy boats, relish dishes, ecc. | hadn't really thought about the limiting factor of members trying to create something new at this busy dene of year - the expanded theme I hope will encoufage more members to participate! The new tithe is Sugar & Spice - little extras for the holiday table. Have fun preparing for the busiest season of the year!
